Bilberry With Lutein Herbal Vision Formula

Protect your eyes from free-radical damage with Bilberry combined with Lutein rich in flavonoids for vision, varicose veins, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetes, circulation, hemorrhoids

The main phytochemicals in Bilberry are anthocyanins. Bilberry helps correct vision problems associated with retina degeneration, including macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, poor night vision and diabetic retinopathy. It also improves or prevents glaucoma and cataracts.

Bilberry, a powerful antioxidant, is an excellent herb for:

  • night blindness

  • macular degeneration

  • prevention of cataracts

  • diabetes

  • diabetic retinopathy

  • circulation

  • emphysema

  • varicose veins

  • hemorrhoids

  • diarrhea

Bilberry is also used in connection with vascular and blood disorders and shows positive effects when treating varicose veins, hemorrhoids, thrombosis, and angina.

Bilberry contains anthocyanoside, which speeds up regeneration of rhodopsin. These flavonids increase the strength of blood capillaries and reduce their permeability, thus preventing leakage of capillaries and decreasing ocular pressure.

Bilberry is a perennial, ornamental shrub that is commonly found in various climates in damp woodlands and moorlands. In the United States they are known as huckleberries, and there are over 100 species with similar names and fruit throughout the Europe, Asia and North America. The English call them whortleberries. The Scots know them as blaeberries. Bilberry has been used as a medicinal herb since the 16th century.

Bilberry's fruit contains flavonoids and anthocyanin, which serve to prevent capillary fragility, thin the blood, and stimulate the release of vasodilators. Anthocyanin, a natural antioxidant, also lowers blood pressure, reduces clotting and improves blood supply to the nervous system. Bilberry also contains glucoquinine that has the ability to lower blood sugar.

The herb contains Vitamins A and C, providing antioxidant protection which can help prevent free radical damage to the eyes. Vitamin A is required for sharp vision, while Vitamin C helps form collagen and is needed for growth and repair of tissue cells and blood vessels. Anthocyanosides support and protect collagen structures in the blood vessels of the eyes, assuring strong, healthy capillaries that carry vital nutrients to eye muscles and nerves.

Bilberry has long been a remedy for poor vision and "night blindness."
Clinical tests confirm that given orally it improves visual accuracy in healthy people, and can help those with eye diseases such as pigmentosa, retinitis, glaucoma, and myopia. During World War II, British Royal Air Force pilots ate Bilberry preserves before night missions as an aid to night vision. Bilberry works by improving the microcirculation and regeneration of retinal purple, a substance required for good eyesight.

LUTEIN (LOO-teen) is a member of the carotenoid family that includes beta-carotene, lycopene and several other phytochemicals. Lutein, along with another carotenoid called zeaxanthin, make up the pigment in the macula of the eye, the area responsible for distinguishing fine detail.

Studies suggest that increased intake of lutein and zeaxanthin increases the maculas pigment, and scientists believe that greater pigment may protect from damage that can accumulate over time. A study in the journal Optometry indicates that greater lutein consumption may improve vision in people with degenerative eye conditions.

Results of various studies are not uniformly positive, however. A report in the American Journal of Epidemiology states that lutein and zeaxanthin were not related to development of age-related maculopathy (macular degeneration). But greater levels of these carotenoids were linked with lower incidence of several early signs of macular damage.

Two large studies the Nurses Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-up Study have linked lutein to fewer problems with cataracts.

Lutein may also help protect against cancer. A study in the American Journal of Epidemiology reported that people with the highest blood levels of lutein faced about half the incidence of breast cancer as those with the lowest. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reports that men and women with the highest dietary intake of lutein had a substantially lower incidence of colon cancer than those with the lowest intake.
